Board of Directors Volunteer | Sexual Assault Centre Kingston
The Sexual Assault Centre Kingston is currently seeking TWO dedicated individuals to sit on our Board of Directors.

Are you a feminst who is motivated, self-driven, and passionate about creating a community free of sexual violence? Then the Board of Directors is the place for you.

The Board of Directors is a group women-identified individuals who are passionate about operating from a feminist framework.  The Sexual Assault Centre Kingston operates with a philosophical and behavioural commitment to equity, fairness, diversity, accessibility and anti-oppression/anti-discrimination practices.  This is why the members of our board come from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds.

The Board works together to fabricate and update policies for the Centre, envision strategic goals and work towards implementing them, create fundraising initiatives, raise awareness of our mission and mandate, ensure services are meeting the needs of the survivors accessing them, and finally act as an advisory council on matters that include finance, business, and human resources.

The Board hosts monthly meetings from 5p-7:30p at the Centre (400 Elliott Ave, Unit 1). Board meetings take place during the third Tuesday of each month, with a break during December and July. Each Board Member volunteers  between 3-6 hours a month. During these meetings, the board discusses updates to the Centre and analyzes current efforts against our mission and values to ensure we are abiding by them.

Ideal candidates will possess a strong interest in working towards the elimination of all forms of violence and should support the work and the mission of the organization. Some experience as a member of a board of directors is ideal, but not mandatory. Candidates must also demonstrate commitment, leadership, decision-making, and integrity.  Board members should feel confident working as part of a team but also excel in self-directed work. Members will be required to attend and participate in monthly board meetings, as well as participate in sub- committees and attend agency events. This position requires members to be available for 3-6 hours per month.
